Virtual Campus Welcomes New Director

by Dr. Scott R. Franklin, Director of the Virtual Campus

It is incredible how fast things can change. One week, I was sitting in my office in the Moody Science Building on the Plainview campus pondering how I was going to cover the
rest of the material in each of my classes while balancing my workload as the Associate Dean for the School of Mathematics and Sciences.

The very next week, I was sitting in a brand new office, still pondering how to finish up the term but with a whole new world of opportunities opening up before me! As of November 16, 2011, I have been granted the wonderfully exciting privilege of serving as Wayland’s new Director of the Virtual Campus.

This is currently my 12th year with Wayland, having taught face-to-face, online and hybrid courses in a wide range of mathematics courses. For those of you who don’t know me yet, I would like to let you know that I come into this new position with passion for teaching, a commitment to a quality academic experience for our students, and a conviction to integrate faith and learning throughout our programs.

I want to offer our most sincere thanks to Krista Favela who graciously and very  effectively served as the interim director of the Virtual Campus. She provided a great deal of assistance by helping to ease the transition as I take the reins. She has since taken an Instructional Design position with West Texas A&M University in Canyon and we wish her will in her new endeavors.

We will work very hard within the Virtual Campus to make sure all your needs continue to be met and that we continue to strive to offer the best online Christian education anywhere. Thanks to an able staff, I know we will be able to provide quality service our students and our instructors.

I am very excited and look forward to the weeks, months and years ahead. God has richly blessed my life through Wayland and I can only hope to continue to further the mission of the University here at the Virtual Campus.

God Bless.
